The Beginning, An Introduction

I thought the best way to start this off would be with an introduction of both myself and my blog. I decided I wanted a place I could share the books I love and invite people to read along with me as I discover new ones and share my opinions by reviewing what I read. But don't worry, no spoilers.

I didn't always have quite the love of reading as I do now, in fact it is fair to say my introduction to books at school promoted a real hate for them. When I see the wide array of colourful children's books in bookstores today I wonder where on earth they were when I was little. In all fairness I know my mum would buy cute little stories for me filled with animals who had adventures and friendship, you know the usual. But school was a different experience. Forced to read colourless unimaginative and all together mind numbing stories for years I really do wonder what they were thinking. I can still remember sitting for what seemed like hours as a teacher stood over me making sure I was reading the dull adventures of Mr and Mrs mundane and wondering why I was making such slow progress. I think It had something to do with the fact id fallen asleep with my eyes open and my imagination was defiantly not been tapped into. It was this boring debut into the world of reading that nearly ended it for good.

It may have taken a good few years, but I did eventually discover books for myself. After the years of set books you had to work your way down, I was finally aloud to venture into the library alone and discover how many strange and wonderful places I could escape to without even leaving the house. I became hooked on the idea of creatures who live around us, powerful creatures who were far more interesting than reality and its something iv never grown tired of. They say you should never judge a book by its cover, unfortunately I do. Always. I'm drawn in by dark covers and interesting symbols that imply there is more to the story than just two people who fall in love then go threw a rocky patch before getting back together. I proofer the rocky patch to be the fact they are trying to form some kind of relationship while avoiding getting eaten alive by thirsty demons. But that said I realise I need to expand my circle of books and try new things, but we will see how well that goes. For now I will start reviewing a few old favourites, and who knows maybe someone of you will recommend something amazing and change my mind on things.
